19" Rack

19" rack is the standard in the current computer industry. A 19" rack mount such as the XRackPro2 noise reducing enclosure cabinet follows computer industry standards. 19" racks have standards such as EIA, IEC and DIN. The 19 inch size becomes 480 mm when using the metric system.

Rackmount equipment go inside a 19" wide rack. 19" rack mount servers, RAID systems, switches and more can be rackmounted. 19-inch racks can also hold audio video, medical, military and other rackmount equipment.

Racks in 19" width are available in different Rack Unit (RU) sizes. RU's of a 19" rack, commonly shortened to just "U", are a special unit of measure equivalent to 1.75 inches. That is the distance between mounting holes, the actually height of 19in equipment will be slightly less to make sure equipment will fit together.

XRackPro 19" rack models are available in 25U, 12U, 6U and 4U sizes. These 19" racks can hold 1U, 2U, 3U, 4U and larger rack mount chassis equipment. Filler panels for XRackPro2 19" rack mount enclosures are in 5U, 3U, 2U and 1U sizes.

XRackPro2 Server Rack Enclosure Receives Design Improvement for Cooler and Quieter Equipment Operation

GizMac Accessories, designer and manufacturer of the XRackPro2 server rack enclosure cabinets for noise reduction, announce a new XRackPro2 design begins shipping.

GizMac is now shipping a new version of the 12U size XRackPro2 server rack that provides better cooling and more noise reduction than the previous model. This new XRackPro2 12U incorporates the same design that the recently released 4U, 25U and the upcoming 6U XRackPro2 server racks are built around.

Cooling in the new 12U XRackPro2 server rack is improved by moving the air intake from the sides to the bottom of the enclosure. Cooling efficiency was increased by bringing in the cooler room air nearer to the ground and by focusing the cooler incoming air upward along the inside front of the XRackPro2 server rack. Because most rackmount systems have their intake for cooling at the front of their chassis, the effect of the new XRackPro2 design is significantly better cooling.

Noise reduction in the new 12U XRackPro2 server rack is also improved. Re-locating the air intake to substantially increase cooling allowed the new design to use one less fan for moving air through the XRackPro2. With this change and a few other modifications, the newly re-designed 12U XRackPro2 reduces noise up to 80%.
